European Champions Real Madrid will try to race ahead of Premier League side Liverpool in securing the signature of Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak after reports in Spain confirm that the Los Blancos have made a bid for the Slovenian.
As reported by trusted Spanish outlet AS, citing a report from Portuguese media’s A Bola newspaper, Real Madrid have lodged a €100m bid for the Slovenian shot-stopper, which would trigger his release clause.
The Lisbon based newspaper described their revelation as ‘The Bombshell of the Summer’ with regards to Oblak’s move to Madrid.
AS also follows up on reports in The Mirror that Liverpool’s hopes of a move for Oblak are diminishing, with Atletico ruling out a sale below the €100m clause.
Multiple reports have also gone on to state that Atletico are trying to put an end to all speculation by handing Oblak a new deal this summer itself.
Real Madrid, however are determined to sign Oblak as soon as possible after failing to sign Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Manchester United’s David De Gea in multiple attempts.
